Isopod pics/vids

Been getting some decent videos and pictures of my isopods recently, and I wanted to share them with fellow enthusiasts! I don't have any professional equipment (besides the microscope you'll see featured) so most of this is just shot from my phone.

I ordered some more Porcellionides pruinosus recently and they got here today, but like 8/20 of them were not the same species. My guesses are a Zebra and some Porcellio Scaber. I took some videos under my microscope for reference.

Last one is definitely Armadillidium maculatum. They are the best!

They are gorgeous! I've actually been wanting them for a bit now, but since I'm in an apartment I'm a little limited on space for a bunch of colonies - so I've just got my good old pruinosus. So it was kinda a nice surprise to get the zebra! There's only one, though, so unless it's a pregnant female I won't be having a colony any time soon.

Someday I'll get a rubber ducky colony....they are SO cute.

Oh I've never seen those before! They are stunning! They look like some sort of colorful tiled pattern almost. I wish there were some scientific articles about their discovery because I'd love to learn about them. It's so weird how they can evolve that coloration (like rubber duckies) in the wild.


And your zebras are adorable! They're super striking and I bet the class loves them!

I'd love to get Armadillidium klugii! They're such a pretty species.

An aquatic isopod I collected for a class! It's cool to see all the hairlike gills (I assume they are), it makes them look fuzzy.

Flipped over the isopod barks to check on how they're doing, still going strong! I saw a baby orange cream which is cool, I bought some at an expo but 7/10 died. Hopefully they'll reproduce some more!
