So a few weeks ago, I bred a pair of sassacus vitis, and the female promptly laid an egg a few days later. Come today, I saw odd blotches from the corner of the habitat that turns out to be the babies! Super excited to have these adorable babies. They’re much larger than I thought they would be, which is a good thing, because I wasn’t sure if I would have small enough prey to feed them. So far, they have yet to come out of their birthplace, and it looks like their mother is standing guard over them except to hunt.

EDIT: 15x Macro

I hope you can show us some pics of the spiderlings :) I don't think my hubby would like it if i came home with a spider :p

I’ll definitely upload more pics when they emerge!

And that’s unfortunate. Maybe one day you’ll convince him.  :)

Update, the babies emerged! They were small enough to slip through the gaps in the habitat, and some escaped. Most stayed inside, thankfully, and I was able to save this one and release it to the garden.

Final update: my hydei culture crashed, so I had to release all my jumping spiders. I tried to keep the spiderlings with their mother, I just hope they’re able to stay together. I’ll try looking for them in the azalea tomorrow to check in on them.
