And if someone could tell me what the L1 .. terms mean id appreciate it lol

Sweet, I'm really no expert on the different stagmomantis species but I'd guess that you've got a adult female S. Carolina.

L1 means first instar, so it would mean a young mantis that hasn't molted yet.

It's an adult because it has wings. It is female for sure due to the short wings (males have a full wings for flying) , and based on your location, there's a good chance it's a Carolina mantid.

my mother-in-law caught me a male in here garden just the other day. ive had a bunch of people calling me and asking if i want these mantids that they are seeing... they are certainly very active wtih this hot weather

Yeah the rest I saw was small

Need to find adult male now lol

Put her in a net cage in the garden early evening. Males will come once she starts calling. Easiest way to get them.

It is a female S. carolina (Carolina mantis). She is an adult and it is almost a guarantee she has already mated.

I may do that lol

Walked outta my front door lastnight and looked up by the light and there was a male praying mantis!!!!!!!

So I put him with my girl and they connected for hours!!!!!

Make sure you get him out of there as soon as they are done so she doesn't eat him....
