Just how amazing are mantids

I got my first snake a couple of days ago and it just made me realize how amazing mantids are! They are so friendly towards a human, unlike many other animals. They are so easy to just hang out with u and not easily stressed  u don't have to tiptoe around them they are so chill! What other animal is so chill if u want to play with it and at the same time not demanding any attention? How are they not the favourite pet in general?

That my friend, is why I am personally working to spread major awareness of the beautiful insects & honestly all insects in general!

They are so underated and not represented like they should be. I love spreading the joy of the hobby to new people. Even if only 1 or 2 people join up, that's enough for me

Also i think mantis is an ideal first pet for kids it doesnt live as long so that the parents are stuck with it when the kid stops caring about it and it doesn't get boring can be handled often!

You are making super valid points! I enjoy showing them to people who are afraid of bugs aswell!! They make perfect "gateway" insects into the invert hobby!!!

Great points you brought up, though. they are special in the fact that they look at you like they are observational, which I believe they are!

This is what blew me away when I got my first mantises a few months ago. I'm not very new to the invert hobby, but nothing is quite like a mantis in how it will look at you and is seemingly unafraid. The only non-mantis predator I have is an Amblypygid. I love my Ambly, but it is nearly blind and very skiddish. It's like night and day between the two.

Sure can get to you deeply when they turn their heads and look at you. Amazing feeling. But then again I believe the mantis is the only insect that can turn its head.

I know, they're awesome. I'm glad I discovered this hobby, the little bugs bring me peace and relaxation. I've had other pets, and although I loved them, they were demanding and the vet bills always left me broke.

I try to educate people about bugs. My neighbor across the street is a third grade teacher. When I still had my tarantula, she asked me to take it to her class and do a short talk about it. The kids loved it! I would go every year for her new class. I never took him out of his enclosure. Safety first for the kids and the tarantula! She said they called me the spider lady. Now I'll have to suggest mantids!
