L7 male molted no wings yet

I have two male cryptics at L7 one is obviously sub adult, swollen wing buds, the other is a runt , did not have swollen wing buds, the runt molted this morning, to what I hope is sub adult. Has anyone else had a mantid have an extra development cycle, in the same species?

molts runt:L3 on 6-18,L4 on 7-02,L5 on 7-15,L6 on 7-30,L7 on 8-19,L8 on 9-29.

big male:L3 on 6-11,L4 on 6-24,L5 on 7-10,L6 on 7-27,L7 on 8-26.

Are you sure he isn't just behind?

He probably just came to you as an L1.

I would also guess he is just one shedding behind. Poor guy getting called a runt for being younger. lol
