Laying Mantis

When I hold my ghost mantises, they often lay down on my hand/finger and will stay there like that for hours. Does anyone know why they do this? Is it because I’m warm? Or are they just resting?

Usually when I’m holding them I’m just sitting not really doing anything, I’m not really sure what would be startling them What sorts of things are likely to do so?

Looks to me like they are looking for water off your skin. Mine do that to.
