List of Species in Culture

So I have been working on a list of all the mantis species that are currently in culture or at least what I think are in culture. I may have missed some and some may no longer be in culture. I would encourage anybody to help me make this list more accurate or if you want to share any knowledge about what's being bred, kept, etc. All help is welcomed!

I think that having an accurate list like this will greatly benefit everyone as well as the hobby as a whole. It will also help keep some species from disappearing entirely out of culture.

I made the list in word and copied it over to here so it is pretty long...sorry lol. If you would like a printable version of the list then feel free to PM me and I could email it to you. I know I like a paper list that I can write on and make notes.

There are currently 95 species on the list and I am not sure how accurate it is. This has taken me a few hours to make over the course of a couple days as I was trying to do some research and pull back some species I remember from memory. I used Wikipedia, the forum, and Yen's website to help make this list.

Oh and Native species are US species as I am from Ohio and this started out as a personal list but I wanted to share it with everyone.

You do not have Acanthops parafalcata, Acanthops falcataria, Acromantis japonica, Acromantis megna, Deroplatys trigonodera, Empusa lateralis, there are other species of Odontomantis in culture. Miomantis abyssinica, Orthodera ministralis, Rhombodera fusca, Rhombodera valida, Sphodromantis aurea, Sphodromantis baccetti, Sphodromantis gastrica, Sphodromantis and Stagmomantis theophila. lol....MANY! I know the UK has a species in culture survey and someone also keeps track of what is or has been offered in the classifieds. I think this is the most current one from march 2012.

well the zoolea I think is out of culture or not in culture anymore as some on the list should be checked to see if its out of culture as there is always some that drop completely out of culture or out of the hobby totally!

Maybe in Germany because there are many kinds of mantids there and I do not know many of the species that are in culture in Germany. And maybe Japan too.

Yeah. He meant the mantids that live in the wild here.I think people have had Oligonicella scudderi before but probably not now.

you forgot orthodera ministralis,archimantis

the nigerian flower mantis has been lost in the us as no one has this species anymore and not sure if it is in culture as cant find anyone who is raising them in the us or elsewhere!
