I've been thinking about breeding. No, not myself though... that probably crosses my mind too often. What can be done, aside from giving the female some food prior to breeding in order to lower the chances of her attacking the male? Some ideas:
1. Put the female in the refrigerator/freezer to slow her down for 10 minutes.
2. Use some kind of chemical to knock the female out or make her real drowzy.
3. Take her out to dinner, buy her a few glasses of wine (and maybe a shot of tequilla) and then bring her home.
4. Use some kind of thread/string to hold her head down and out of the way of the male.
I know most of you experts have your old tried and true methods but I'm trying to think outside of the box here. Any ideas?
Another question: in any species/sub-species of Mantid, can you cross-breed them? Artificially?
Thanks!
