mantid identification?

Does anyone know how i can identify local mantis spiceis in my area. Ive seen a couple diffrent kinds in my back yard but cant find any pictures of them online that match. Theres a pic of one i kept on my profile if anyone can identify it.

It looks like stagmomantis species, but do you have a bigger picture than the tiny avatar?

It looks like some specie of Stagmomantis...based on the area you live, there are many possibilities, Iris oratoria (sp), Brunneria, Stagmomantis Carolina/California...,thesprotia graminis...(this is just a sample)

I doubt there are Brunneria or Thesprotia in IN. Most likely he has Tenodera or Stagmomantis.

Yeah,

I was just giving some general US mantises...Brunneria and thesprotia are more southern...right?

Very southern. I am at the top of B. borealis' range.
