You know the last thing I would have though was that I'd be without babies!! Since I first got into this I have always had my hands full!! Food prep, cultures to manage, tanks to clean and setup, mantids to tend to feeding, caring for bad molt victims and so on. Now, since my last baby died last month of old age, I find myself just plain bored. like what did I use to do with my time prior to this??? I know I use to spend time with my boys they are older now but still, we cared for the mantids together!! I thought it was just me...but they feel the same way but just said nothing!!! So, now we are awaiting shipment of new blood and are totally antsy!! Really!! Antsy as if it's X-Mas already!!! You really don't realize how these little creatures can influence your life until you have none to rear!!!!

So, my 9yr. old says, Auntie, let's just make sue this doesn't happen again!!! When he's not playing video games and beating the pants off me and his older brother, or driving his brother crazy he'd be right there side by side with me helping out!!!! ;)

I know the feeling (like Christmas) when you're waiting for mantids in the mail... and it feels like Christmas morning for a kid when you open the package! Glad you're going to have some new little ones to look after! :)

Oh yeah, it's the best when you haven't had any in a while and finally get them in the mail after waiting for even a day or two. Long couple days! It's great 'cause I get several Christmases every few months. It's also great when you get a new species in the mail you've never had before.

I have to take breaks often, maybe cause I'm lazy, but the awesome thing about this hobby is that it never goes away. You'll never be able to go without mantids forever.

AAAAAAAAAArrrrh, man!!! I'm like fiending now Package can't get here sooon enough!!! I don't know who's worse, me or my 9yr. old. He's all like is it today, auntie???? Okay, cool. Tomorrow then. And it's been that way since i placed the order!!!! everyday after school!! Is it here??? :D

Yes, I know the feeling! ;) You know, in my case though there's a nice little side-effect to getting "bugs" in the mail... my husband won't open any package addressed to me, or even want to know what it contains ("probably something with your bugs!"). So I don't have to worry about him prematurely discovering anything I've ordered as gifts for him for birthday or Christmas that come in the mail! :D

Yeaah! Good one. My sister lives right down the hallway and she is soo absolutely nosy. <_<

Usually, she will check the mail for all of us at once (I have another sister just one flight down as well) but with my packages

she s always like "eewwww" I'll bet that's something to do with those bugs of yours!! She'll just hand it over quick like but letters and any parcels minus my address she'll have her grubby little hands all over the thing OOOOH presents and all!!

So, now when we order things online for her for special occasion instead of using her address I will use mine to throw her off the trail!!! Just can't plan anything like that around her being the youngest sister in the bunch at 42yrs old she's still a brat!!! B)

Lol! Ours is probably one of the few hobbies that have a built-in package snooping deterrent! :p

PS... I love my family and wish I was closer to them (1 and 2 hours away)... but I don't think I'd like them in the same building!
