This book started from draft since 2007 and grew into 300+ pages of wonderful mantis book. It will soon be on the market but I had a chance of getting the author autograph page in advance

It is in Chinese but most pages have colorful pics and I am proud to contribute some pics too. It is a scientific book with detail description of species that can be found in China.

Besides, the book also has the following

  • Mantis history
  • Breeding
  • Feeding
  • DIY mantis cage
  • Rearing
  • Preserving
  • Dead specimen
  • Trading

and many more.....

That book looks too good to be true! And it is... because it is in Chinese! But it looks so good I'm still intrested, depending on the price ofcourse.

Is it completely in Chinese, or are the species names also there in 'English'. (Couldn't find the word for words that are not Chinese characters... ;) )

Let me know the price Yen. It looks great. Too bad I won't be able to read it though.

Wow amazing Yen! I have been looking for a book like this for years!

The book is estimated to cost around RMB200, that's about $30. It will go for printing by the end of next month. ABout 330 pages, 23X18cm page size. Other noticeble topics included are:

  • Myth of male sacrifice during mating
  • Mantis taxanomy
  • Camouflage
  • Key for genus
  • Sexing
  • Parasites
  • Natural enemy
  • Color changes
  • Leg regeneration
  • Outdoor collecting

and many more.... there is one comparing mantis to Chinese kungfu <grins>

The English version will take a while to publish, i have no idea when.
