Gavin Svenson will be giving a presentation at the Cleveland Natural History Museum in northern Ohio. The event is open to anyone attending the museum on Wednesday April 24th, 2013. The presentation is from 3-5PM. I'll also be there with some live mantids and a few books. Any serious mantis enthusiasts within driving distance may want to check this out.

I would love to go to this. Why can't it be in May or at least on a weekend!

There was something similar last year, Wed. later April of 2012 so maybe next year Rick?

I'd like to get some face time with Svenson. I may try to do so this summer.

I believe this will be a small event and I think this is the time but I also realize you live very far away. Good luck and I'll be curious to see what kind of things you'll learn.

It was an enjoyable event. The display included some native species and even a minor ground mantis from Arizona supplied by Peter.

Is Cleveland like the capital city for insects? I hear so much about it in relation to mantids... (this, mantisplace in Ohio...etc...) Maybe next year I'll be in a position to go. Cleveland is a city I'd like to visit anyway.

This was a singular event but the annual bugfest will be on the second weekend of August.
