I was out looking for some the other day and found about equal numbers of brown and green. The males are often brown or a brownish-green. I'm not sure I've ever found a solid green male. They are neat critters but I try to keep in mind they don't belong.Thank you everyone! This is great news to me!
First, I've only seen brown Chinese mantids for the past 3 years here, and 4 years ago the green one I found wasn't this colorful.
Second, if this is a Chinese then it's offspring from the oothecas I had set outside from the old female I rescued last year! I had a bunch and noticed many green this year and found it odd since technically the ootheca were captive bred and raised on super protein diet perhaps this affected color? This mantis climbed on me and wasn't shy mabye a sign from its mother? http://mantidforum.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=34063&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1
