Mantis Identification

My little brother caught this guy in their garden. I was just curious what species it is.

I think its a mantis fly. Its too weird looking to be a preying mantis.

It's definitely not a mantis. It's a mantisfly.

Awesome! Had no idea those existed.

I thought it looked really strange. The front legs look backwards, and the other legs stick out so far down.

It may not be a mantis but it's still as awesome. It hunts in the same way
