Hi guys! My mantis molted yesterday and I noticed it has been hanging at the same position for the past 12 hours. it looks very skinny now but it doesn't look like it is interested in eating. Is this a health concern? Thanks guys!

p.s..

Welcome to the forum.

To elaborate..

Sometimes the mantis won't eat before and after a molt. I think after they hang there for a bit while they harden up.

Some of them do it for longer than others from what I can tell.

Thanks very much! I caught a few wild ones lately and have been keeping them at work. It's great to learn from all the experts at this forum.

Where I keep my mantids are generally kept at around 70 degrees. Is this a problem?

Thanks again for your response, Ghostie! I appreciate it.

I'm just a newbie too!

I guess temps can depend on the species.

Where did you catch them? In the shade, in the sun? Take this into account when providing their accommodations.

That is normal after a molt. Don't disturbe for at least 24 hours.

Also, please make an introduction in the intro forum.
