i have known this for some time now and i use it to my advantage,When i 1st started shooting mantids i thought it was somthing to do with light making them bigger..Now i know thats not the case.When u put mantids in the dark for min of 4 hours there eyes are dark.To the point that my orhid mantid has pure white eyes.Putting her in dark for few hours makes her have deap pink eyes..I wil show u that later in another thread im going to start..

Check how small its black pupils are..So shooting face on i get a pic like this

Then come down a bit so the mantids purpils like like its totaly in the middle of its eyes..dead center!

Now cheack this out..dark period for 6 hours then shot as above u can get some real great shots that looks spooky.
