miomantis

i traded a miomantis with someone on the UK forum which was collection from south africa. he said his not quite sure on the species. it looks like an egyptian mantis but its about 5.5-6cm. would it be the Miomantis caffrara?

Oh I see in your profile you identified it as Miomantis caffra Saussure, 1871. Are you able to id the species of the genus? That would be great because with about 70 described Miomantis species I would be happy if someone could id the stocks we have from South Africa, Namibia, 2 species from around Tanzania and one from Egypt.

If it is just a guess it might be better to try to ask for a precise locality (add an IGM number) or just name it Miomantis sp. "South Africa" or with a more precise locality that will help to distinguish different stocks from the country that might be different species.
