Mites in springtail cultures?

I was just doing a little reading about sprinngtails. Some people say to keep the cultures on mite paper or mite proof surfaces. Is this really a concern? HAve any of you had this problem?

Just to make it clear I don't have mites in my cultures. I was just curious if this is really that common.

I have mine on mite paper so I cant say.
