he/she molted this morning!

i'm still wondering, exactly, what species he/she is..

a couple of people have said it's a stagmomantis carolina?

anyway, he/she just got the "full wings" today.

they're really dark, almost black...

here are some pictures!

^ enjoying a moth; after molting.

i was wondering, is it still too early to tell if it's a male or female?

i tried counting segments & whatnot, but, it's kind of hard to.

i count 6 with 1 little one & 1 slightly bigger towards the end.. looking like...

>( (( ( ( ( ( ( ( so, 8? but, the end is really dark (black-ish).

here is what it looks like... (not the greatest shot, but, whatever).

any ideas, comments, or opinions???

Adult male Stagmomantis carolina. I have an adult female that just molted today that I found here. Do you want her?

fyi: although yours (the one that molted) is a male, and the one you found is a female, do not attempt mate them. Those are 2 completely different species.

thanks!

so, it's definitely a male stagmomantis carolina.

alright, i see what you're saying.. thanks for the heads up.

I just caught a male last night!

I am sending it to Mime.
Yep, this one is a stagmomantis carolina too. :D

I've probably caught a score of this species in my lifetime but never a male. It makes me wonder if they're capable of parthenogenesis, or if I'm just having bad luck. ;)
