Found these guys in a bucket of water. Been wanting to find some mosquito larvae so that I could take pics of them, and today, I finally did.

Nice shots! :) I have really grown to hate mosquitos over the years. My yard is full of them. At any given time I'm being attacked by at least three. One of neighbors must have some stagnant water around.

These are seriously cool! I remember watching mosquito ("gnat") development, from the egg raft through the you-know- what since I was about eight, but no pix! I lived in Kent, in the south east of England, not too far from Romney marsh. The mosquitoes there were said to carry "swamp fever" caused by an organism (Plasmodium vivax) very similar to that which causes malaria. How about that! :)

I think I've fallen WAY too deep into this bug-world. I didn't remember to be repulsed for like 30 seconds! I wondered what it ate, how it breathed, what "instar" it might be... IT'S a freakin MOSQUITO! Squish it!!!

Then I thought - WAIT! I might need it alive for my next nymphs. Sigh. Way too deep.

Nice work.

Excellent pics.I my self hate mosquitos and they love me

I plan to keep them around until they turn into pupae, and maybe let the adult mosquito emerge inside a closed container. After that, I'm gonna have to kill them all.
