My idolo has gotten so old and frail that she can no longer hold herself up without struggle and constantly falling down. And so, she has taken to kickin' it on a deli cup 24/7. She just lies down, luxuriates on her lounge chair, I feed her bon-bons (flies), and she seems happy as a clam. Anyone see a problem with letting her live the rest of her days like this?

I continue feeding mine until they will no longer take food from me. And then I know it's time. This always makes it harder for me though as I seem to become more attached to them in the end.
Same here. In October, my idolo (moulting to adult) fell mid molt. She was crippled, but still eating. It was awful. After 5 days she was gone. :(

Yes, I bought this one as ad adult from AngelofDeathzz/Nick. I also have 2 L7's.

Yeah, I don't plan to euthanize her. I'll just let her be old and lazy-- like me! :)

I think what your doing for Roy is GREAT! And figuring out the lounge chair for her was brilliant!

I always knew you would make a A1 Mom ;)

I did the same for my favorite unicorn. I would just turn the lid upside down so yours has more cloth for her feet to cling to then just the holes. use tape to keep the lid secure and she'll be quite happy.

Yeah - my last gal from a year or so ago spent her days in a basket - she'd wedge herself somewhere comforatable and wait for me to feed her. The final week I had her in a bed of cotton on her back. Even without mobility, she laid 2 ooths - one of which actually produce a single nymph!

Lol funny, I was tempted to start a thread titled Old Lady Mantises. My current girl Tinkerbell is having a harder time clinging to the ceiling/walls of her net enclosure although she insists on giving it a go. I see know harm in letting our oldy goldies take it easier toward the end of their lives.

Awesome, guys! Thanks!!! It's nice to know that others have taken to similar measures during the later stages. It feels humane to let her be comfortable and not struggle. I love the basket idea, and the cotton, and other great tips...thanks!

PS. My subject title was meant to be: My Lazy A*s Idolo, and it got censored. Oy!

I let my old Ghost live on a bed of cotton until she died. (Which was about a month after I did that!) She would wait for the fly to come to her. Such a princess!

Same here. As long as they will eat, even if having to hand feed, I let them live as long as they

are not suffering in some way that I can tell.

I only freeze them as a last resort to put them out of misery.

From the number of "#'s", you'd think it was funkin' or sumpin else.

You got lucky "babies". Even if they are "old". I know a few people that wouldn't mind you caring for them daily. :innocent:

You can clearly see she's not a day over 29 ;)

Also, FYI there's a auto censor feature, it won't let you post profanity. But you can say poopy if you want :p
