I recently received an Odontomantis sp. ooth from Nikko, who I will be writing another good review for once the other ooths arrive and hatch. My luck with ooths lately hasn't been too great. Small hatch on my first boxer ooth, and no hatch on the second, then yesterday I had 3 Odontomantis hatch from this ooth.

I was told from a few people who raised odontomantis for a while that they always hatch in one day. If I didn't see more by 8 there wouldn't be any more. When I went to bed there was still just the 3 nymphs. I was so upset my bad luck was continuing, and I was starting to worry about the other ooths I had ordered, and considering not ordering ooths anymore, until this morning when I found this:

I'm so happy I have a good number of these little guys, and it raises my hope for the sybilla, blepharopsis, and Humbertiella ooths. And of course knowing the joy of a good hatch I will probably buy way too many ooths in the near future. so shoot me a PM if you have some lol.

I almost hope some got out and are wandering around still alive catching my FF escapees and I'll see them later.
I too have had a small number of my Odontomantis nymphs die. Don't worry, this is generally a normal case with most species. You will usually have a few "weak" nymphs die off during the earliest instars for various reasons. Have any of your other oothecae hatched out? My Bleph ooth from Nico's bloodline hatched out 40+ for me between yesterday and today. Still nothing from the Sibylla though...time will tell!

nothing from any of the others unfortunately. I was ready for a small die off, but an ooth hatching 20-25 and going down to 11 in first instar is more than I was ready for.

I had 4 ooths hatch a total of like 100 nymphs, and by 3 weeks later 80 were dead :(
Maybe the bloodline is going stagnant. Maybe UK and USA had a different source and breeding Nico's Odontomantis with an Odonto from America will get it strong again. Else we need some new wild caughts.
