lol on the remote... hot

I put a bunch of wax worms in a container with some holes or ventilation. i mix bran and honey for them to eat and put a little wax paper in for them to crawl or fly onto. they don't even eat once they are adult (they just become lunch). the moths are really ugly and well-camouflaged.

and I only have one ghost but 2 pair of H. majuscula.
Let me know if you want a male Ghost. I have 2 adult females, 3 adult males and 1 sub adult male. They are all live together in a huge net. The one male keeps mating with the female. She is likely to bite his head off soon if he doesn't leave her alone.

I just bred my pair 2 days ago. I had been trying for a few weeks but the male was showing little interest in mounting. He would watch the female and get close but make no moves. Then Tuesday I had them on the sofa watching The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and he finally made his move. Needless to say, they missed the end of the movie. They stayed connected for about 12 hours.
Nice! I mated mine twice. It's pretty hard to get the male to mount the female. Needless to say, the male is still alive and healthy, and I'm positive, after 2 matings, the female is going to be fertile :D

I have 6 mated females. No difficulties with males so far. They are not even that aggressive.Only lost one male but I wanted to mate a female 3 times and I think it was too much!!

Good luck with yours it is such a beautiful species!

Henry, you say a month after the last molt to try mating?

I am glad you mentioned that. I have a few pair of subs (both sexes) and was thinking

about mating them.

Is there anything else unusual you have noticed about majescula I should know?

I wish I could find good, detailed care sheets on this and other species.

Like, how come I keep killing every shield (stalli) nymph I get?????

I have hurt my brain tring to figure it out!!!

They do not die in molt, they simply drop dead!!!
I can only tell you my limited experience with this species. I gave plenty of humidity before molts and both of my pair had final molt on the same night. With large species I usually breed them by putting the female on the side of a large net cage with the male behind her. When I feed her the male stalks her. That didn't work with H.majuscula. He would only watch her up close. I ended up with him behind her on the sofa were I could keep an eye on them. It may be they prefer to be positioned horizontal for mounting, whereas most large species prefer vertical. I'm only basing that on this single encounter so that may be incorrect.

Many try to breed the before the female is ready. I'm guilty of that too. Usually the male is adult first and requires less time before he's ready to breed. He will stalk a female if you let him even if she isn't ready and she may react aggressively. That's a good way to lose a male. So I have been holding off until the female is fully loaded with eggs and I don't force the situation. In this case it was the male that was holding off.

I only kept 6 of my Rhombodera cf valida and all are still alive and well and molting to L7. I keep them in deli cups with cloth lids with lots of humidity. I'll switch to screen lids after this molt. I don't add heat.
