lol... that's cute. If you have a Canon camera, you could put it on "macro" mode. On a Canon, it should look like a picture of a flower. If you use that you'll be able to take pictures of your mantis up close and it will show more detail. =)

Budwings, Ghosts, and Popa Spurca are all awesome mantids!

 
If possible, try to cut the center part of the lid and glue a screen net in order to provide the container with extra ventilation. Excessive water inside the container might not be good. Nice blog :)

 
I do have a Canon camera and I did take my photos using macro, but for some reason, it will still come out blurry sometimes :(

Thanks Yen, I'll keep that in mind. I figured the mist would help them molt easier, and that the only downfall to excessive water is the potential for mold. Is there some other side effect as well? I scoured the forums and haven't found anything beyond mold, or maybe it's too early for me to think right now on a weekend ^^;

Ha!!! I say the same thing!!! I swing open the cage door, point at my employees and scream, "Minions! ATTACK!!".

You know, they haven't really ATTACKED anything so far... But I can tell they're THINKING about it...

Small nymphs don't do well in containers with extra water droplets as they get stuck or even drown. Some species like orchid and Texas unicorn (for any nymph stage) also don't do well in poor ventilation condition. But i just noticed that you have two hardy species i.e. ghost and budwing mantis so they should be alright. Keep us update i am sure many of us will be following your blog B)

 
Hehe will do! And thanks for the need to know info. I just traded a budwing for a popa with my bf yesterday (he actually got the popa as a freebie with his ghosts that he ordered from you Yen :lol: ), so I'll be taking some photos and posting them as soon as I have some free time. I wonder if there are other mantid or cool bug blogs out there that we can follow.

 
I <3 Yen's blog. But it can't possibly be the only one out there! We need more mantid and bug love! Our minions need to infiltrate every possible strand of the interwebs >:) Ha! See what I did there? Bugs? Webs? Lol I'll just go laugh in a corner now over my mildly punny pun :p
