I was spraying my Dead Leaf mantis as usual, as she likes to drink the water off of her. The next day I see a spot of mold growing on her abdomen! Is there anyway I can disinfect her! Please help, when this happened to my friend's mantis it died!

Can you provide a picture? Are you sure mold is growing on the mantis?

Thankfully later today it was gone. It must have been a fuzzy white speck of dust that was on her abdomen that fell off later. Thanks anyhow!

That's what you figured, but I was pretty scared because it looked EXACTLY like mold, until it fell off. My friend went through a very traumatizing experience with mold and I was thinking it was about to happen to me.

Was your friend colonized by mold?

Too funny! Glad it all turned out for the best... and no one is molding!

Usually I try to avoid spraying the mantis itself when misting because it often stresses the mantis out. I've had some mantises (especially males) that would get stressed enough to throw up a threat display. Stressing them out like this can cause some individuals to fall while trying to scamper off. You're better off misting the walls of the enclosure and the furnishings so they get the water droplets to drink up without the stress.
