I received two of these today, they are stunning! Is anyone on here good at sexing these?
I do have that book, thanks for the advice. Even though I know what to look for, I have a hard time identifying it. Partially because black and white sketches and the real thing look different, and partially my horrible eyes (severe farsightedness, my contacts allow me to function, but this type of thing and I am useless).Very nice! I love AGBs.
Look around 7 segments behind the head. Females will have all segments with 2 pairs of legs per segment. Males will have only 1 pair on 7th segment. Females far out number males, so good chance you have 2 females.
If you don't have it yet, get Orin's millipede book!
That is an excellent idea, I never thought to try a piece of glass.I fully understand the eye problem. Mine a going south as well. I currently have to use reading glasses as my arms are no longer long enough
Do you have a piece of flat glass? If so, put the milli on it and allow it to walk around. You can then check legs or take a picture. Extra set of hands might be needed though.
I ordered them here: https://wardsci.com/store/catalog/product.jsp?product_id=15155247Drotski, where did you get yours? I live in Ellsworth by the way.
That means at least 6 of them were shipped to Maine from there. You need to check out the insect and butterfly museum, inside Maine Art Glass Studio in Lisbon Falls. He has thousands of specimens on display, and a bunch of live stuff. This is where I found out where to get them (and what made me WANT to get them). I will have to get some Bug Burger. Thanks! Ive got two ladies now from there. They are big and quite shy. They curl up at the lightest touch. They love Bug Burger over other yummies, including cucumbers.
2 to you, 2 to me, 2 to Maine Art Glass Studio. What do you mean 6 were sent?
