Man I just turned the big five oh and got about 6 cases of beer as gifts from my friends. At the rate I drink now I won't need to buy beer until I turn 60. I love the stuff I just don't drink much anymore.

My fridge has more food in it for roaches (fruits and veggies) than it does for me though I guess there is nothing stopping me from eating it other than I would rather eat a burger or pizza.
Well happy late birthday. ;) Sounds like your set for quite awhile then. I know the feeling, I crave the taste (passed down from my family..) but rarely drink.

Ha, sounds like feed them good fruits and vegetables then. I do the same, shop more for them than me. My mom has a fit about the dang banana's as they are $0.55 a pound. My wife rolls her eyes and usually at that point I have more banana than I know what to do with. :D

we have a Woodmans grocery store close by and they set out old fruit pretty much every day. If you get there at the right time you can get great deals (99 cents for a bag of 10 or so apples or oranges for example) and the majority of it is perfectly fine to eat. I hesitate to tell you that I can get a grocery bag of bananas for $1.50 and there is at least 10 pound in each bag usually more like 12-13. Sometimes I have to let them sit out to ripen enough to eat them.

I lived by a few grocery stores that would sell their old fruit like that before. Seems now though most simply throw it all in the trash. As everyone would buy the old fruit and the stores claimed it hurt sales of the new fruit. Glad you can find some bargains though. ;)
