Basking isn't necessary, Pb. The only reason to come out into the sun is if the burrow is too warm.

Many of the desert or arid dwellers will go off their feed -- some even completely -- during winter months. Perfectly normal behavior.

Yeah, he goes all winter w/o food. I am expecting him to be a little more active now

that the weather is changing.

When Kiwi emerged from winter hidding, I could see his abdomin was much fatter!

How on earth could he get fat when he hasnt eaten hardly anything in months???
