As far as my knowledge go, no mantis species has been hybridized. Religiosa is also a European mantis, while tenodera are Chinese mantis, so I feel that the likelihood of them being able to hybridize if they even genetically can is probably unlikely.
From what I've heard, you can get some inter-genus mating both in captivity and in the wild, but nothing comes of it. Consequent ootheca are sterile. I assume the genetic make-up between different genera is just too critically different to produce offspring. Between species of the same genus though, I'd imagine hybrids are actually common.
I think there are hybrids of mantids. Here:http://www.mantodea.ch/?tx_speciesdb_pi1[species]=139&tx_speciesdb_pi1[v]=species . Mantis religiosa are in the same subfamily as Tenodera sinensis but in a different tribe on Mantodea.speciesfile.org. I have not read about Mantis religiosa and Tenodera sinensis hybrids even though they live together. I do not think they crossbreed because I have not read about that happening or seen it. At least it would be rare from what I know, of course, duh. I wonder what a T. sinensis crossed with M. religiosa would look like?
