This thread is more of a breeding/hatching log than anything. I ended up with only 1 female Sibylla pretiosa and 2 males, and they were extremely skittish. Even the female was skittish, and I don't even want to talk about the males). I don't know if I did something wrong or my mantids were just plain stupid. I thought I would just drop this species, but not without a last-ditch effort. I just placed the male in a 1-ft enclosure with fake plants. Then I added the female along with some flies. The first male was devoured overnight, and the second male was eaten after 5 days. The female laid many ooths, which I thought were infertile, but I incubated them anyways. After what seemed like a long incubation time...
This is my first time raising this species from first hatch. The first ooth hatched 20 last week, and 13 remain now and seem stable. Another ooth hatched this morning - 15 and there already are a couple that are probably not going to make it through the night. Not sure what else I could do, I guess they're just super fragile.
Also, last week, I had a hatch of orchid babies. I sprayed daily and the ooth hatched after 45 days. A couple died within the first 24 hours, and the rest seem OK so far. I guess I'll be keeping myself busy.
