ootheca sorta blackish at tips?

Hi the Creobroter pictipenis ooth i got has sorta turned dark near the ends what isthis? IS it still alive in there or whats happening 0_o?

how long ago was it laid? because as they harden they do tend to darken overall, i think this takes place over a few hours or maybe a day i think. however if its been laid for a few weeks then i dont know whats happening. however, i don't think even if the mantids were dead it would turn black at the edges, i dont think youd see a noticeable difference. i could be wrong of course, im just making a (not very) educated guess.

Its not a new ooth... the sybillia pretiosa ooth has some mold on it is it a goner? the pictepenis is just turning blackish a bit 0_o?

If it is not a mold, do not worry. Otherwise, scrap the mold and hope for the best. I had a molded P. Agrionina ooth before and it still hatched out alright. Don't give up.
