well i find mantids all the time BUT i can not seem to find the ooths any tips i have 15 acres of woods and a field where should i look?

look on trees or on fallen or chopped logs or if there is fences look on the fence posts or any kind of surface in the woods that ooths can stick to! If there is any pine trees check them too!

I sometimes find them in trees, not to much, mostly in weeds, religiosa tends to lay near ankle height, chinese is knee height and I think it is carolina that likes the calf!

Same place you find the mantids of course. Wait until winter when the leaves drop and then look. Look from eye level down to the ground. Large ones will stand out while smaller ones will take some looking.

thanks i will try all three
I wouldn't worry to much about the height thing. Just look from eye level down.

One thing I have noticed is that if you're looking in a weedy meadow and there are some small, lone trees in the middle of the weeds you will often find ooths in them. These will be trees that are like ten feet or small in height. Many times chinese ooths will be laid close so if you see one there may be another one close by. I've found as many as ten in one small patch.
