Orchid mantis multitasking

So I put in a few flies so the female wouldn't eat the male while I sleep. They both end up grabbing a fly at the same time. Meanwhile the male is still drumming on the females back so he doesn't become dinner too . Anyone ever experience this?

Wow, a interesting trick to be sure. Can't say I've ever read about any male drumming before, and he was letting her have it. Let us know if he survives though.

Ah wining and dinning, true love is through their stomach. Lets just hope he didn't slip anything into her drink, as he wouldn't be a good guy.

Very cool! What do you feed her anything special before or during the breeding process? I have a female now and I'm looking for a male

Thanks her main diet usually consists of bluebottle flies but I try to vary her diet on occasion. After mating I would suggest loading her up with pollinating insects like moths and butterflies. Honey bees are especially good for them
