im thinking of getting this species and i was just wondering if you HAVE to have a heat mat/lamp. its summer here at the moment and my room is about 25C-30C depending on the weather.

will this be okay?

oh and another thing; do you have to keep a pink flower in the enclosure? (sorry if its a silly question  )

You don't have to have an extra heat source, and it's not mandatory that you include a flower of any color in their enclosures. My one little Orchid girlie doesn't have any flowers or sticks or anything in her net cage (but don't tell hibiscusmile!) ;)

i won't ;)

No heat source needed at proper room temps. No flowers or anything needed. These are very easy.

Aha! Kat, bad Becky... woop, woop, woop, u give her a flower, or I might just have to come down there! How would u like to be in a clear room with nothing in it? and NO, I mean not even a bed, u have to sleep on floor just like poor Orchie!

I really, really would love to have an Orchid. I have always only had Carolinas. If you don't mind me adding to this thread, are orchid mantids easy to keep? How does their care differ from other mantids, if at all?

Orchids seem very easy just need a little more water that's about it my only problem is they jump and are very fast when handling :<

even at adult?
I have yet to have an adult but I do not believe they'd be as energetic as they where when they where nymphs well the females anyways males would probably fly.

Orchid mantises are easy to care for. There's only one thing to pay attention to. It's that the male will mature much earlier. If you don't do something about that fact, you may be left without a mate for your adult female when she's an adult.
