So one of my orchids developed a black spot on her elbow, she also was refusing food for a while. I didn't really think too much of it until the other day when she chewed her arm off at the elbow looks like she ate the arm too. She seems to be doing good with the arm gone and started eating again but now the blackness is spreading up from her elbow stump. There was barely any blackness left on her elbow after she did that. She also has a little darkness on her mouth as well but that doesn't seem to be getting worse or darkening.

Not much you can do, I think. You could try cutting off the whole arm, but if the infection is spreading quickly then it might not save her.

Is she acting normally otherwise?

Yeah she seems totally normal, and even ate after she chewed the arm off(she had been refusing food for a little while before hand) its been 2 days since she ate the arm, and there was very little black left on the elbow the end was just a little brown actually, so in 2 days that's how much its spread. I dunno if i have it in me to cut the arm, i mean i'll do it if it could save her, sounds horrible though

omg i did it, i cut it off, felt so horrible doing that. But even since i took the picture it spread enough that i would lose the chance soon. She actually didn't react at all like she felt no pain. gave her a bunch of honey.

Keep us updated on how she's doing! And keep up with the honey.

dab some peroxide on it a couple times a day, . do the other orchids have a problem?
no they don't it's just her. i'll try the peroxide thanks. I am a little worried though today her wound is brown/black. I'm really hoping that its more like a scab formed there but i think it's probably the infection still spreading.
