origination of the term 'ootheca' ?

I was reading a post, and thought that the term ootheca sounds strangely familiar, or similar to the term ooze, and was wondering where the term ootheca originated from, or if some hairlip guy was watching his mantis ooze, and told his friends the say the insect oothing... Just cuious, I would imagine it's some greek or latin derivitive, or sumppin
