P. wahlbergii & P. ocellata hatch out rate record!

Wanna share a great news of mine (ok i am bragging here )One of my longest P. wahlbergii ooth hatched out record hatch rate of 86 nymphs, and to my pleasant surprise the P. ocellata ooth next to it also have a record 60 nymphs. The only difference is the PW is the first ooth while PO is the like the 4th ooth.

this goes to show feeding them crickets compared to flys sprinkled with bee pollen,,i see many on another forum get 30 nymphs from feeding them crickets.. im glad iv copyed your ways from the start.Let me know when she lays again..

Q1: It was cotton trapped in between two mesh screen, help to sustain humidity when air is rather dry in the room. An innovative idea from my Bro. Luke. Thanks Luke!

Q2: yes there were two ooth layed from different time, i run out of containers often :angry: . I moved the hatchling to another larger container, line with paper towel on the plastic wall and some fake leaves and raffia inside.

No that i know Chun, don't think a research dealing with feeding only cricket to spiny flower mantis really yield any scientific value. But that's just me.

Anyway, are you still planning for a trip to Malaysia next year?

i'm pretty sure i am, it's been too long since i've been back! I think i wont be there till around mid july, because my parents want me to attend the graduation ceremony but i really cant be bothered with it. What about you?
