I bought this mantid from a reptile shop as a Pseudocreobotra wahlbergii, but on comparing it to my other adult male wahlbergii I think it may be a male ocellata instead, it's smaller than my male, it's spines are also flatter and not so "spikey", please see following pics.

Comparision my original wahlbergii above, see the size difference! I know that this could be a small male wahlbergii, thats why I won't some help identifying it. If it is an ocellata it's no big deal as I have a adult female ocellata, another reason why I need to be 100% sure. If the pics arn't clear enough then I try and get some better ones. Thanks

to be sure you would need to look at the pronotum.

if the pronotum is nearly as wide as it is long - P. occelata

if the pronotum is wider than it long. - P. wahlbergii

Thanks harryallard great link, really helped.

Thanks also mrblue.

I think from your pics that it is a male wahlbergii, just alot smaller than my other male.

Here's a pic of my new male with a female Ps ocellata you can just about make out his wider pronotum! (sorry about poor quality)

Straight after taking this pic the male tried to mount the female although I seperated them, other wise i could have ended up with some hybrids!

(sorry just noticed but it really is a ###### pic)
