my giant asian mantis moult a bit more than two days ago. She seems skinny. So I gave her some fruit flies the next day after she moult. She bite off two flies head then drop them. I also found some fruit fly wings on the bottom ( not sure if it's from the same flies or not). I tried to take her out to feed her fruit flies by hand. I pinch the fruit flies a bit to hurt it. the fly still move, but not as fast as usual. I put it in front of my mantis on my palm. She just ignore it and keep walking on my hands non stop. she walks fast. She either keep walking around my hands or avoid me picking her up. When she's in her room,  she's more calm and mostly stay on the lid. She still walk around on the lid once a while. She seems energetic still but she is just skinny and has poor appetite. She ate 2 to 3 flies in two days. She wasn't like that before this moult. She didn't stop eating and her abdomen was always puffy. Now, her abdomen is so flat. Do you know what's wrong with her?

around two days before she moult. I had spray on her enclosure. then she had a big react( shocked, then walk around for a while ). So, I know she didn't want to get spray on. after that I still spray her enclosure once a day but not directly on the enclosure. she seems fine with it. here are some photo of her today and the day she moult.

Many mantids don't eat for several days after molting. I would keep offering food daily until her appetite improves. It might also be a good idea to limit handling until she's starts eating normally. Sometimes it's best to give them some alone time. ☺️

If you're spraying her enclosure every day (unless you live in a very dry area) you may have the enclosure humidity level too high. 40-60% humidity is a good zone. High humidity levels are not good for this species.

What temperature is her enclosure?

It's hard to judge her size from the pictures, but she may need prey larger than fruit flies at this stage. How many times has she molted? If you don't know, approximately how long is she?

how many days will be normal(not to worry about)? She's getting bigger I wonder if fruit flies will be too small for her. Or she can only eat fruit flies all her life? base on what the seller said, she is supposed to be L5 or L6 now.

about temperature and humidity. I have a hygrometer and thermometer near her enclosure even before I bought her. So, the highest humidity of all time is 79% (maybe because the steam from kitchen ) and the lowest of all time is 46% ( I guess that's when I have a small pc fan on ). within 24 hours the highest is 60% and the lowest is 50% humidity. the room temperature always stay at 23C (73.4F) during the night and 24C ( 75.2F) during the day.

No... she needs larger feeder insects ASAP. Fruit flies are waaayyy too small for an L5-L6. I'm surprised she's lived this long on fruit flies only. 😲

Sounds like your humidity and temp levels are within recommendations for this species.

Get some blue bottle flies or other larger feeder insects. Good luck! ☺️

Thank you. I have a lot fruit flies left. Do you think if my mantis will eat them still? I wonder if I should keep them or throw them away.

When she starts eating again they might be good for little snacks if she can still catch them, but definitely get some larger feeders as soon as you can. ☺️

I hope your mantis get more appetite soon. You can try to handfeed  her. Put some guts from  a prey before her mouth, they will mosty starts eating then. Better a bit bites of food inside her than nothing. Good luck and keep us updated.
