Hey everyone

Last month I dissected one of my dead mantids and noticed something wrong. It had red blood. I thought insects didn't have red blood. Does anyone know what could have happened? It was M. religiosa if that helps at all.

They have green blood, I don't mean to be rude. But are u maybe colour blind?

Depending on how long the mantid was dead, you may be mistaking decomposing, liquifying internal tissues for blood.

Color blindness would make red look green if I'm not mistaken.

One of my mantises once vomited up red liquid. So it could be related to the mantid's last meal.

she was missing a part of one of her forelimbs so maybe it got more oxygen. I read that oxygen gives mammals red blood.

Mantids do not have blood--they have hemolymph. The red in blood is due to the hemoglobin found in red blood cells. Mantids do not have hemoglobin.
