If anyone can't find them I know one person who will have a ton of little ones shortly.

Hmmm I have visible scars on my hands from my a Tenodera girls and I love their aggressive attitude... I'm thinking I would definitely love the rhombos ^.^
If Tenodera does that to you you should definitely NOT get this species. You would end up with bones instead of fingertips.

They're not, just females like to stuff their faces, mine never attempted to bite or atack me the way chinese mantids do,it may have a lot to do with how much they are handled though,TS always come out mean to me tho lol but I wouldn't be afraid of this species, seen more agression out of adult Lobata females honestly

True, they are not going to run across the cage and bite your finger off, but if you grabbed a female by the pronotum and she didn't make you bleed you may have had something different. There's always a little contention on whether any of the Rhombodera are labeled correctly.

Lol Orin, I have been bit, kicked, stung by countless types of critters :) reptiles, mammals, birds, insects, fish(lion fish are the WORST),coral etc, it's all part of the territory if you're going to have them. At least ive never had a juvi hawk puncture my artery, got to txport it to the hospital though ^.^ I enjoy hand feeding my mantises and if they have ever grabbed me by accident they usually let to. Cabo grabbed me the first time and wouldn't stop munching so the second time I got smart(snicker) and fed her with forceps. She grabbed the forceps and went around them to my finger. She's a smart, beautiful and aggressive girl!!! I love my Tenoderas...

As of yesterday I have about 100 more to love :)

i have to do a science project, i thought i would use the nymphs im getting for it (they wont be harmed or anything at all)... im going to raise them with different colour of decore and see if that effects their outcome as far as colour... if you guys can give me a link to any reports on this i would appreciate it. will anything change or will the colour stay exactly the same??? ive seen that this species can be shades of orange and red as nymphs so im going to see if i can get that outcome?

Sunlight brings the green out of the rhombos

I think on the uk forum they had a color change with decor thread for pseudocreos, I think t elegans changes color based on surroundings as well

Yeesh what are you peeps doing to elicite that kind of finger munching?

Read my other post lol. I hand feed my mantises which leaves a little room for missing :)
Still to manage to get a scar seems rather intense.

When I feed mine outside of the cage I always just go with a little plastic dixie cup. I drop the food in, hold the cup up, and let them snag their goodies that way.

Any of the other mantises would always let go if they started to munch on me by mistake but Cabo seemed to enjoy it ^.^ I tried to get the cricket between her and me but she ended up taking quite a few good chunks out in the knuckle area on my L index and R thumb and I wasn't going to hurt her just to get her off me. I tend to scar easily bc of my body chemistry(long boring story about prothrombins etc and lots and lots of lab work and being a guinea pig) so I am sure they won't be visible forever but if I scab I scar, for a long time.

I don't really care, I love my girls and if a few mantis nibbles are the worst thing that happens I'm good :) she can't come close to any of the orthopedic scars so it's all good!

Lol I'm really excited, they will be super cool and I'll try to keep them going for more generations! :) wait.... I will keep them going for more generations, that's better lol

Yesterday I got pinched by my Chinese mantis because I was trying to grab her on her narrow thorax (she was trying to climb too high). She just turned around, all angry and annoyed, and pinched me. Ouch! Normally she's really peaceful and mellow...well, except while eating her food.

I haven't tried a whole lot of different mantises but I think if I ever Rhombodera, it would be happy to pinch my finger all the time. :p

Oh I remember when I was a kid, I tried to handle a Stagmomantis californica by the thorax and she pinched me in much the same way.
