My favorite adult mantis died this morning. She was a Rhombodera extensicollis, and maybe 8 mo. old. I think it was something digestive as her translucent thorax darkened and she had a sort of diarrhea that was foul smelling. Anyway this was one of my last pictures of her. She had a partial mismolt on her adult molt and her wings came out a little messed up, but other than that she was very healthy and active. (Some might remember my post on the mantis that wouldn't stop biting...that was her; we worked it out since then--turned out to be fly-smelling-hands triggering her bite response, I think).
