Hey guys!

Yesterday I bought a 12" by 12" by 18" ZooMed (Very similar to Exo Terra) glass terrarium to breed my D. truncata in. I really want to go all out with this tank but I don't know where to start. My thoughts are that first I probably should somehow cover the metal mesh of the tank with something else to avoid damage to my mantids' tarsis but I am not sure the best way to do that.

My goals for this tank are:

live plants (but not obstructing moulting)

a false bottom to increase humidity

BB proof maybe FF proof

and about 90 degrees F with very high humidity

If you have any ideas about how I can reach those goals it would be very helpful!

Thanks,

Gripen

This is how I modified a habitat for my B mendicas. I didn't use real plants, and when they became adult I removed the top stick cover to just the screen for more ventilation.

Well my female D truncata just kicked the bucket. I am crushed.

:( Sorry. I don't have D truncata to send.
Thanks for the thought.I have started work on the cage. The first step I have done is modified the top of the cage. I have sewed twine to the steel mesh to prevent the mantids from breaking their tarsis.
