I have 4 from an ooth that hatched, I just don't think I can care for them right, I hear they need a cooling off period for proper growth? anyone know of this?

I have had great success with them. I would say they are as easy as a ghost (maybe a bit pickier eaters) they just seem to take alot longer between instars. let me find this awesome photo of a sub/close sub adult pic.......

That was one of the hardiest mantids I ever kept. They need no special temperatures and nymphs can go weeks without food and nearly as long without water wihout being damaged.

Fun species! For some reason my female's ooths aren't hatching. I guess my male was sterile.
