Well, yesterday I went to take Skittles out of his terrarium for a little walk over into my dining room so that we could have a picture shoot. As I was trying to coax him onto my finger he lit up his wings and took off! He has not been seen since. :( Quite a little escape artist! I had the screen top slid open about 3 inches, so he angled and eyeballed his little self well! Of course the very first thing I did was turn off my ceiling fan. But I look at it this way, he found his way in somehow, it's not really a wonder that he found his way out! LOL :clown: He must've been sitting in there watching and waiting for just the right moment. The terrarium is on a credenza that is right by the front door, which I keep open all day. So he could see right through the glass to the front door, which is no doubt how he got in. The screen door is one of those security type screen doors, and it has a doorknob size hole in it 'cuz there is a hole for a deadbolt but there is no deadbolt. It was also improperly sized or fitted or whatever when it was installed and there is about an inch and a half gap up at the top of it. :whistling: (I just bought this house about a year ago and there are a lot of things I still need to deal with.) So bye-bye Skittles unless he shows up somewhere. Which I will admit is possible as I had a little tiny itty bitty 1st Instar escape day before yesterday, but I found him yesterday, not too graciously far from where he escaped from. I just knew to look upwards. That whatever he did, he would go up. Sure enough, he was about 6 inches up on a light post. LOL! :p Thus I haven't given up on Skittles completely, but since I now know that he can fly as well as he can, I'm not gonna keep my hopes up with my leaky front screen door.

Sound the alarm ! That's a shame. Perhaps, if he got out into the world he'll stay on flora nearby?

Boys can be sneaky. The other day I had my boy Voodoo out and I made the mistake of singing to myself. The second I started up he used that opportunity to flutter off and of course I didn't hear him take wing over the sound of my own terrible voice. It took me a good half hour to find him because instead of flying to the window like he normally does he flew to a fern I have on the opposite side of the room.

It seems unlikely that he made a B-line for the small opening. I'd bet he'll turn up around the house.
