You know, I’m talking about this part from curiosity and part from worry. I saw my mantis Sherlock being fairly lethargic for a long amount of time, and I’ve had to poke him several times to get him to move so I could clean his enclosure. I’ve checked on him after around 4 hours and he’s still in the same position I left him. His arms look kind of limp, like stretched out but still closed.
I don’t know whether he’s trying to shed or not (I’m not sure if he’s due for it right now)— or if he’s trying to sleep after me pestering him for so long on cleaning his cake and moving him around, or... if he’s sick.
And I’m thinking— how do mantids sleep? For how long, and just.. how? I just assume they power-nap like a lot of other insects, but I’m not sure.
