That doesnt sound plausible.

I thought aggressive species will instantly tear each other up.

The species i have try to kill each other constantly through the mesh screens that seperate the cages.
Sounds like you are not feeding them enough, my blue flashes don't do that, except for when I haven't fed them enough. :)

Yes, they have to be very hungry to try to eat something the same size as them and I think they know it is their own kind so they know it is dangerous. I have not heard of them doing that but I am not very surprised yours do that.
 
I will try to piss them off to get the threat pose :p

All my females are green, and i have one green male, the other male is hmm grey-pink or something like that.
