Hey guys I am primarily an arachnid guy. However, I have recenly become interested in mantids. I have some s. californica. What conditions should I keep the ooth in? Do I need to keep it moist.

Thanks

Put it in a container with a bit of substrate or paper towel in the bottom. Dampen the substrate every few days. Keep it at 72 or above but no more than about 85.

Good luck with the ooth! :) btw, are you sure it is s. californica and not stagmomantis limbata (arizona bordered mantis) In los angeles I have been able to find ONLY s. limbata and one unfertile s. californica. They appear slimmer and smaller than s. limbata. the one i found was charcoal camoflage color.

I would say if you found it by where you live than dont worry about the conditions.

Just mist em every couple of days
