Well, after much anxious waiting, I had a successful hatching of about 10 little ghosts yesterday!

Very happy indeed!

The interesting thing is, this is the SECOND ooth after the mating. The ooth she laid immediately following the mating still has not hatched! Isn't that odd?

Well, anyway, I'm stoked, as this is my very first time successfully raising from L1 to adult, mating, and having a successful hatch. Mom is still alive and kicking, too!

:) :) :)

I am happy for you. It is also my lot to be waiting anxiously for my first Ghost ooth to hatch. I am sitting on about five of them and they are taking forever. What incubation regimen did you follow? Temperature, humidity and duration?

Hey Rich,

I keep them as warm as I can (they sit in a large jug on top of my tank light....so they are generally around 85 days, but nights have been cool when the light was off).

As for humidy, I moisten the substrate, and then it's between 90 and 100% for a few days until the substrate dries out....then I let them lay dry for a day or two before repeating. That part isn't really planned....I just often don't notice they substrate has gone dry!

I think it took about 7 weeks - but I'll have to go back and look when the ooth was laid (yes, I actually wrote it down).

Congratulatios! I know that you have been trying for this for a long time and have withstood storm damage and other disasters. Maybe that candle I lit to the Great Mantis Goddess (BbHN) helped! :D
