Hello,

I am a new member of this forum, but I need some help fellow mantid-philes! I am a grad student in the US and need to get my hands on 50 - 60 *LATE* instar Tenodera sinensis nymphs. Does anyone know any reputable breeders that can do bulk orders for scientific experiments?

Thanks,

SK

I think it would depend on what the scientific experiment entailed. A lot of us care deeply about our mantids so if it was an experiment that could potentially cause harm, I don't think you will find any willing breeders on here though I can't speak for the masses.

I love mantids as well! I am working in one of the few mantid labs in the country, doing work on morphology/systematics. Unfortunately, we do not have a live animal permit as we are located in a museum without such a license, and so I do not have the facility to rear mantises.

At any rate, thank you for your trouble.

You are unlikely to get that many, I have 11 subadult nymphs, but none are for sale, all are for breeding, plus I could find them wild, but it would cost a ton for me to do so.

Yes, its too late in the breeding season for chinese mantids now I believe. You would have to wait for spring / early summer to get that amount.
